Is life getting to be too much?

Learn about the chakra system

Ancient cultures, from medieval medicine to ancient Christianity, have identified energetic centers as a means to break through spiritual and physical barriers in order to live optimally.

In the 11th century, yogic scholars identified these same wheels of energy, or Chakras, along the spine in order to provide students with a means of identifying areas of their minds, bodies, and lives that needed attention and using specific practices to nourish and balance that area.

You will learn how this ancient system works and explore approaches to using chakra practices to live better in our overstimulating and distracting world.

Learn about each of the seven chakras

Each session will explore one chakra in detail. You will gain strength, stability, and balance in that specific area of your body, leading to overall balance in the final session where we bring all the chakras together.

Bring practices home

Kriya yoga is made up of bite-size practices meant to activate the chakra you are focusing on. Some of the practices you will explore have been used for hundreds of years ( sound, breathing techniques, repetitive movement practices), and some are more modern ( intention setting and yoga postures).

All significantly strengthen the body and the nervous system and can be used off the mat when you face stress, distraction, insomnia, and lack of motivation.

You need this series if…

  • You have felt distracted or energetically imbalanced (ie. everyone!)

  • You have lost touch with your deep, central musculature.

  • You have trouble managing stress

  • You feel unmotivated

  • You want to feel aligned—body, mind, and life.

  • You are curious about ancient yoga practices and how they can help you manage your life.

  • You want to build strength

We all need help finding balance in this chaotic modern life.

This might be your way.

Modern neuroscience supports the Chakra nerve bundles as a means of supporting specific neurological responses.

Chakras belong to an area of study in yoga called the Subtle Body, which is associated with the indefinable energetics that we feel during yoga—energized, grounded, joyful, peaceful, focused, or connected.

The energetic goes deeper than our sensory experiences and can be a means of living that seeks to push away the physical senses in favor of more intuitive responses.

But it is also extremely practical. The approaches you learn are a means of activating and aligning your body with the nervous system, which helps us to manage our complex lives.

 FAQs

  • We know you are busy, especially during the holidays.

The short answer is, don’t worry about it. Come to wat you can. You will get a great deal out of any sessions that you attend. We priced this series to be less than the cost of a regular group class, even though your teacher has spent hundreds of hours becoming an expert in tis specific area. So you aren’t loosing money by missing a session or two.

The long answer is: we scheduled this series over the holiday season for a reason. It’s a stressful time.

Give this to yourself as fully as you possibly can. Everyone in your life will be happier.

  • Take a look at some of the reviews of Connie’s teaching style. This isn’t that kind of Kundalini class. In fact, Connie doesn’t refer to er style as Kundalini at all. She calls it Krya Yoga.

That’s a smal, but important point. We do this kind of yoga because we have something holding us back ( see Blocks), but the class is about nurturing and supporting the chakra.

This is a series for every body and every level.

That being said, it can help you get really physically strong.

  • No. We do not chant the names of any Hindu gods. Yoga uses vibration that we get from singing bowls Connie’s beautiful Italian copper mini gong, and chanting to bring more alignment and feeling to specific areas along the spine.

On a side note, Hindus practice some elements of yoga, but yogis aren’t hindus. Yoga at Shine is not religious in any way.
