Sara is the founder of Shine. She started the studio in 2015 because she needed a place to support her own healing. She was reeling from a year of cancer treatment, a move back home after being away for 20 years, and the responsibility of raising an energetic two-year old on her own.
It was too much. So she took a few days and went on retreat.
That time without distractions gave her the space to develop a plan for herself and planted the first seeds of what would grow into Shine.
Since then, Sara has continued to go on retreat at least once a year in order to show up fully for Shine, for her family, and her friends.
In the years since opening Shine, Sara and Shine have grown and changed to meet the needs of the community.
Sara is now a sought-after Yoga Teacher Trainer and teacher’s mentor in addition to teaching her regular classes and offering personalized yoga lessons.
Last year she taught an Advanced Yoga Teacher Training in Rest and Retreat.
Amanda also found her way through yoga. Like so many of us, Amanda was suffering from burn out. It was through the rigor and daily yoga practice she came to love through Shine’s Yoga Teacher Training that Amanda was able to make the choice to quit the job that was draining her energy and work full time in yoga. Amanda will teach a special yoga class for us.
