“At first, I was not 100% confident participating in a yoga teacher training, I didn’t have a life-long yoga practice or too much background knowledge about yoga. I didn’t know the names of all the poses.
My experience with Shine Yoga’s YTT was unique and beautiful, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Sara is a brilliant, compassionate teacher and Shine is a safe space for all types of yogis.
Beginning with the basics settled nerves early on in the training, then transitioning to more in-depth content, and finally joining together with other participants in person made for a special experience.
Having the ability to learn at my own pace via the online workshops, classes, and clinics made it easy to fit into my schedule.
In addition to the yoga classes offered by the professionals at Shine and the comprehensive teachings of anatomy, philosophy, mediation, language, history, and yoga poses, was the opportunity to talk to each other daily, to get to know each other, and just be yourself.”

On your own schedule
On your own schedule
Note: While this aspect of the training is on your own time all recorded content, reading, yoga classes, and home practice are essential to your success as a teacher and to your understamnding of yoga. They are required.
3 Shine Yoga Classes per week
A part of training is becoming proficient in yoga and making yoga a habit in your life. It’s also essential to be able to understand the choices a teacher makes in a class and learn from other teachers.
The membership activates January 27th and ends June 4th. This gives you time after you graduate to settle into your practice again. The practice time outside of the training dates is optional.
A 5 month unlimited yoga membership is included in tuition.
Home Practice 4 days per week
Each week, you will work at home for 15-20 minutes on one of the following: Posture Exploration, Energetic Manipulation, Sequencing, and Anatomical Attention.
These are key areas that you need to be well versed in to teach. You will be provided with a video prompt each week, but this is a time for you to explore movement and its effect on your own body and mind.
Recorded Content
This is a hybrid program, which means that many of the lectures are prerecorded so that you can watch them in your own time and we can spend our time in person applying the information you learned in the lectures.
You can watch the recordings according to the demands of your schedule and your learning style.
You will receive an assignment list each month, with the content we will be referencing directly indicated.
You will also have access to this content post graduation.
Reading
You will receive a comprehensive manual on the first day of training. It is meant to be very accessible and easy to read. You will be assigned readings that correspond with the recordings.
You will also read four books, which we will discuss in a monthly book club.
Yoga Teacher Training with Sara was a beautiful adventure. Sara worked hard to create a program that worked for all enrolled.
She pours her heart and soul into her instruction and that was evident in her virtual and pre-recorded lectures. Sara set aside an enormous amount of time for us to not only learn the material but to also ask questions and engage in group discussion.
Videos and readings were all self-paced which allowed me to fit everything into my schedule.
You get out of the program what you put into in. With hard work, inquiry, and a teacher like Sara, there is no doubt you will come out of this program a thoughtful yoga teacher." -Emily L

If you continue with Shine for your advanced teacher training, the additional 50 hours will be applied. There is no additional charge for the additional 50 hours.
“I was in the habit of allowing my age to define me but Sara encouraged me, not only putting to rest my fear of being “too old” but allaying my worry that I didn’t have the flexibility or mobility that I perceived I needed.
I made wonderful friends and beyond that a strong sense of a supportive community during my Shine experience.
And my self confidence and physical abilities have expanded way beyond what I thought was possible. Yoga is a permanent part of my life now, so necessary for my personal growth, both spiritually and physically."

Application Process
The first step is to fill out the application form.
Next, you will meet with Sara via zoom or in person at the studio. This is a chance for Sara to tell you more about the program and for you to get a sense of whether it’s a good fit for what you need right now.
It also helps a lot of interested trainees to clarify why they want to do the program and what they hope for.
While we do usually get more applicants than we have space for, this isn’t a high-pressure interview! It is more for us to get to know each other better and make sure our program is the right choice for you and for us. It’s a big commitment, so we want to take the time upfront to be sure it’s the right one.
Still not sure if this program is right for you? Or meeting times don’t work?
