Summer Yoga Day
Do you remember what the best thing about summer was when you were a kid?
I bet close to the top of that list is time.
No responsibilities, nothing to do, no schedule.
For most of us, somewhere over the years, we lost that.
Summer became busy. Often fun, but not lazy. The yoga studio is always pretty quiet during the summer, and the reason is always that people have so much else to do.
As the summer rushes by, I often wish for those days of my childhood and young adulthood, when summer was long, when summer was for being, for hanging out, for long afternoons with nothing to do.
Our Yoga Day this August is in the spirit of the long, lazy summer day.
Maybe the most important part of it is that it's all day, from 6:30 am-6 pm. It's just enough time to get away from the chatter of your responsibilities and the ping of your phone. Just enough time to recharge without having to go away for a retreat.
Over our day, we will do several yoga classes, have meditation time, and aimless walks. We will spend time together cooking, picnicking, talking, and porch sitting. You will also have time to yourself, to be in silence and contemplation-- in retreat.
You deserve a day to get back into yourself. To take it slow, to just be.
