Yoga Teacher Certification
Shine’s Yoga Alliance registered program is 300 hours of intensive training that prepares you to teach an exceptional yoga class to an all levels group. The program is a blend of virtual lectures, an at home daily practice, a minimum of three yoga classes per week, and hands on practice and activity. Eighty percent of Shine YTT graduates teach after graduation.
Advanced Teacher Training
As more and more training programs started popping up, we took a long look at our YTT graduates and what they needed. Unless they were going to run a YTT, they didn’t need a 500 hour program. They definitely didn’t need 5 or 10 intense days of back-to-back hours of learning at a time, with no time to implement built in. But that’s the structure that advanced trainings all follow.
We decided to build a program that would give our Yoga Teacher Community what they did need.
Short Trainings and Training Days that built their skills.
A community of other teachers to learn with and from.
The opportunity to teach, a lot, so they didn’t lose what they learned and could put it into practice right away.
The skills they needed to teach meaningfully and specifically to a group of people who need yoga and who the teacher cares deeply about teaching—people in recovery, women escaping domestic abuse, cancer survivors, people with autoimmune disorders, etc. We want to help these teachers specialize and have an impact.
LifeSupport certification so that they can offer more tools to the population they are impacting.
Together the trainings will add up to 500 hours, but the approach will be a little different.
Mentorship Year
Each year, I’ll accept 6 students to work with closely through the entire year.
The program will include both the Yoga Teacher Certification Training and Advanced Teacher Training, including ShineLife Certification.
In addition, mentees will meet with me monthly throughout the year to shape their teaching plan. I will also provide oversight and feedback on a final project which will consist of lesson plans for classes and workshops for a population of focus. The mentee will also provide a literature review of research that supports the approaches and decisions they make in developing their plan.
